Do I think that an IT project or a traditional project both are hard. The nature of an organization represents a team effort to reach specific goals and objectives. Each division, department, and employee group represents some type or part of a functioning team. In each case, from specific project teams to the entire organizational workforce, overall success depends upon individual personalities and how those personalities get along and work with each other. Organizational success results from the ability to increase productivity from the introduction of new technologies and by the promotion of active and effective collaboration within the organization and among others.

  1. I think managing an IT project is a bit tougher than that of a traditional project. IT projects by and large tend to be more varied than other projects. Let’s consider the ability of the project manager. For example, project managers for traditional projects, such as building construction, are likely to have the same skillsets. The project manager for a building construction, almost certainly would have been a general contractor, and may know how to lay tile flooring; and how to mix and pour cement, etc. On the other hand, an IT project (depending on the type of project, hardware or software related), will need a project manager with a more concise set of skills. A project manager selected to develop a patient management database would have a different skillset than that of a project manager selected to develop an IT Network. Each IT projects has diverse factors to consider such as, scalability, IT infrastructure, permissions, security risks, software and hardware needs and requirements.
